petepontone: Florida is home to one of the most

Florida is home to one of the most beautiful migrations in the world. Every year as temperatures drop the manatees journey far and wide to the safety of the 72 degree springs. The springs never change temperature so as long as they make it there in time, they can survive the winter. This is a time of desperation for the manatees and they should be left alone to rest however many people swim with them and attempt selfies. There are signs posted that say NO punching, kicking, chasing, or stabbing the manatees just to give you an idea. If this sign is necessary maybe people shouldn't be allowed to swim with them? Thank you to all the volunteers that monitor their activities as well as FWC for their wonderful manatee protection programs. (permits acquired) I hope you enjoy the video!!! ❤️ . . . . creative travelpic hub ru studentexpeditions s fl stagram photography s fly oftheday gear fl pix life

The florida keys may not have the most land, however they are home to some incredible underwater life! The keys has one of the largest reefs in the world, the third largest to be specific. It is actually North America's only living coral barrier reef. It lies approximately six miles seaward of the Florida Keys in water that are typically fifteen to thirty feet deep. The reef tract starts near Miami and extends southwest to the Dry Tortugas, about sixty-seven miles west of Key West. 🚁  keys _greatshots   gram heros

From a young age has always had a weird obession with pigs lol. Every year we visit a little island chain in the Exumas full of them!🐽 Oinking up and down the beach even taking to the sea and swimming out to boats. Even at such a small size they are capable of learning how to swim. Pigs are super smart did you know.... Pigs outperform 3-year-old human children on cognition tests and are smarter than any domestic animal! Cuteness alone should be enough reason to stop eating them. s dream   bahamas

Stingray Love 💙 being circled by her stingray friend. Stingrays are beautiful swimmers. They glide through water like birds in the sky, with so much grace and so much elegance. At first glance stingrays can be off putting beacuse of their defensive barbs, but upon further inspection they mean no harm. Their fleshy cartilage exteriors show nothing but love. s art photography wednesday

In the winter, usually November through March, the manatee population is concentrated primarily in Florida. Water temperatures that fall below 21° C (70° F) cause manatees to move into warm water refuge areas. Scientists don’t know what exactly cues the manatees to move when the temperature falls, but they seem to know when cold weather is coming and seek warm water areas. polarizing filter!   stagram s photography fly heros pic gear travel travel wild yourshot travelphoto porn

I remember the first time we explored an underwater cave together, we held our breath and ventured through a vent lined with corals on all sides. We came out the other side in an aquatic Pantheon, a hole in the natural dome like ceiling illuminates the sea flowing within, as  sunk to the sea floor everything was perfectly still.

I get so excited every time I come across a green sea turtle, they are so relaxed and fly to the surface for air.  Sea turtles can hold their breath for several hours, depending upon the level of activity. A resting or sleeping turtle can remain underwater for 4-7 hours.🐢✌️️
